SCHOOL OF LAW SWANSEA UNIVERSITY

HIGHER RIGHTS OF AUDIENCE

Swansea University School of Law is accredited to assess candidates for the Higher Rights of Audience Qualification Criminal qualification.

We offer assessments in Swansea, London and various other locations.

The assessment takes the form of a mixture of Advocacy assessments (carried out “live” and recorded onto camera) and a written examination on evidence and procedure in the Crown Court.

QASA UPDATE:

This new scheme will be launching via a circuit-by-circuit basis with advocates on the first group of circuits being required to join the scheme from January 2013 onwards. We do not know the order of circuits which will be imposed by the regulatory bodies and suggest that you contact the SRA if you wish to query this.

The SRA will be using assessment organisations only at level two – i.e. similar to the current HRA scheme- and not (as originally envisaged) at levels three and four.

We are permitted by the SRA to offer assessment dates up to the start of December 2012. The SRA have informed us that candidates who obtain their HRA between now and the launch of the scheme will be expected to join the scheme as and when it is launched on the circuit(s) on which they practise.
